Automakers in the compact MPV class typically adhere to certain rules and conventions, such as offering an affordable 7-seat vehicle with a small engine, appropriate safety features, and versatility.

However, occasionally a manufacturer introduces a new model that deviates from these established norms. The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga is one example, as it features novel elements in its design and performance.

The Hybrid Edge

Suzuki is introducing a new hybrid version of its popular Ertiga vehicle for 2023. The Ertiga will feature the K15B engine, which produces 105 PS and 138 Nm of torque, and has been upgraded with Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS).

The SHVS includes an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) in place of an alternator, which can charge a 12-volt lithium-ion hybrid battery. This allows the ISG to also drive the belt, providing an additional power boost and increasing efficiency.

Suzuki K15B Engine

The Ertiga Hybrid is equipped with an Engine Auto Start-Stop (EASS) system. This feature allows the engine to shut off when the vehicle is stopped, reducing fuel consumption during idle periods.

When the driver resumes driving, the ISG restarts the engine and provides additional power to assist with acceleration from a standstill, reducing the load on the engine and helping to keep the RPMs low. This improves fuel economy, particularly in stop-and-go city driving. In testing conducted by Suzuki, the Ertiga Hybrid achieved 12.54 kilometers per liter, a 7.6% improvement over the non-hybrid version.

Elegant Design

The Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid now includes technical advancements, in addition to an updated design featuring elements such as a new grille with chrome accents, new wheel designs, new taillights, and more.

This design update is intended to enhance the model’s curb appeal and strong character lines.

The interior of the vehicle features a darker two-tone color scheme, premium materials, and additional design elements, which create a sporty aesthetic. However, the true value of the design is apparent in its daily use.

Optimized Flexibility

The Ertiga Hybrid offers ample interior space, with the capacity to comfortably seat seven individuals. This includes accommodations for two in the front, three in the middle row, and an additional two in the rear.

The cabin of the vehicle includes various storage options that are strategically placed for convenience. These include door pockets, compartments, and a hidden storage area behind the third row. Despite the presence of all seats, there remain up to 199 liters of cargo space behind the third row when the lid is lifted.

The Ertiga Hybrid offers versatility when it comes to carrying large items. The middle-row seats can be folded in a 60:40 configuration, and the third-row seats can be folded in a 50:50 configuration, allowing for a variety of cargo arrangements. The seats can also be fully folded down, providing ample space for large items, such as large TVs.

Safety and ease

The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is equipped with features that make it efficient, stylish, practical, and safe to drive. The GLX version in particular offers additional convenience and reassurance while on the road.

It has a D-shaped steering wheel design which is intended to give a sporty feel. The GLX variant has a new 4.2-inch color multi-info display that provides the driver with necessary data while on the road. Additionally, the GLX variant has a new cruise control system which is intended to make highway driving more convenient.

The audio system is a 10” touchscreen unit that allows for easy connection to a smartphone for the purpose of listening to music while in motion. The vehicle also features an automatic air conditioning system, push-button ignition, reverse parking sensors, and a camera for added convenience.

The Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is designed with safety in mind, utilizing the HEARTECT platform for effective impact absorption and increased passenger cell rigidity. It also includes various safety features such as dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, and an electronic stability program.

It’s budget-friendly

The Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid offers customers the option to choose from three different trim levels (GA, GL, and GLX) and the transmission choices of a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual. This allows for customization based on individual preferences for driving.

This new Ertiga offers the advantage of fuel efficiency at an affordable price and has the added capacity of 7 seats. Additionally, customers are also eligible for benefits such as exemption from number coding.
